CHARACTER
Name: Lukas
Age: 73, about mid to late twenties as a human
Appearance: Tall, as most demons are, standing at 6'6”. Lukas is trim, with peach skin, dark orange horns above his forehead, and a slim, incredibly long, forked tail of the same color. He has red hair that is usually combed back, but tends to fall out of place rather quickly. His right horn has been broken off rather violently, the sharp leftover points filed down. There's a large scar on the left side of his mouth where it's been literally torn open, leaving a piece of his face missing that you can easily see his teeth through. A few staples hold it together. Naturally, Lukas has some difficulties speaking and eating, but these have been overcome with years of practice.

He tends to carry himself straight, tall, confidently, but with his ever-shifting mood this could change at a moment's notice. He almost exclusively wears black suits with bright colored shirts.

Personality: Lukas is by far and away, a very very poor example of a demon from his world. He's pretty much the opposite of serious, work-minded demons. He's hyperactive and a bit of a goofball, and a bit more carefree that his brethren. Thanks to this attitude, Lukas has never gotten very far on the social ladder of his race. He'd much rather have fun than work, and when he's sent to Earth on jobs, he usually gets distracted by, well, anything. He's excitable and emotional, and his mood goes up and down easily. He loves to do tourist things when on Earth, seeing the sites all over the globe. He also loves hitting up night spots and clubs for dancing, and the beach. Too bad being a demon makes him pretty conspicuous.

Lukas is still a demon though, and like all demons has a pretty severe lack of morals. He won't hesitate to put his needs first, or do questionable things to meet goals. Teamwork isn't something demons do. They don't tend to have many friends either, but Lukas still manages to make some with fun attitude, being a bit more friendly and easy to get along with than other demons. He loves talking with people, and will be sure to bug everyone in the the city to hear all about themselves and where they're from.

Demons are tall, imposing creatures and have different characteristics depending on their race. As a Desire demon, Lukas is 6'6”, with red hair, blueish grey eyes (an unusual trait for his race), dark orange horns and tail, and a pinkish tint to his skin. He's got a terrible sense of fashion, and he knows this, so he tends to wear nothing but black suits. That’s the influence of a friend of his who told him he’d always look sharp if he stuck to those. Though he usually combines horrible colors and pattern shirts with them. Horns are naturally a sense of pride to demons, so between his broken one and his horrible facial scar, Lukas is pretty self conscious of his looks. He's had it a long time, so he's learned to talk and eat with it reasonably, but even so it sort of messes with how he talks, and he slur his speech if he's not careful. This tends to happen when he's extremely upset, angry, excited – which happens a lot.

Being shuttled off into a lot of crappy jobs in his life, Lukas has picked up a lot of minor skills. He's been a waiter, a bartender, a limo driver, a short-order chef... He actually enjoyed all these little jobs that are usually reserved for lower-ranking demons, or as punishments for those who've screwed up too many times as is the case for Lukas. But whatever job wasn't too hard, kept him busy and talking with people, he was happy with.

World Information:
There are several kinds of demons in the Underworld Metropolis, and Lukas is a Desire demon, sometime known as Reds. Reds are usually said to have the most difficult job of all the races, and Lukas would agree. Even from a young age, all demons are taught by their colleagues on their craft. Lukas always had a short attention span, and was never much for learning the psychology of humans. He took to his powers easily though – the ability to read people's heartfelt desires, whether good or evil, of humans. Desire demons bargain for souls of humans by being able to grant these wishes.

Almost no one sees the Higher Demons in charge, and there is a hierarchy amongst the lower ranks. Their world is very bureaucratic, and those chiefs amongst the different races dole out jobs, keep an eye on their fellow demons to make sure quotas are met, rules are kept, etc. But, most demons are on the middle tier, doing whatever job is given to their race. The lowest of the tiers would be those who keep life in the Metropolis running. After all, people are still needed for menial jobs, just like on earth. Lukas ends up here often, usually stuck as something like a waiter or bartender. He's a social guy, and not too secretly prefers these jobs, but would rather be doing them on Earth. Any demon stuck with these sorts of jobs are usually looked down on, with the exception of Gremlin demons, whose mechanical aptitude is always needed.

Demons don't have much ties to their families. At a young age they're foisted off to work with members of their race to hone their abilities. Like most demons, Lukas has parents and siblings, but barely knows them. Demons would never stay with the same elders of their race for long, moving every few months to train different abilities with different people. While Lukas learned quickly, all he cared about was getting to Earth as soon as possible. He managed to get sent out to meet his first quota while fairly young (when he was what would be the human equivalent of an early teenager), but found enjoying life on Earth as a tourist to be much more fun than stealing people's souls. It's not like he felt bad about stealing them – he's a demon after all, and human souls are needed for very important things in the Underworld – he just found humans to be much more fun to hang out with than what he'd been hearing all his life. Demons always treated humans like worthless cattle, but Lukas was a rare breed as a demon who actually liked humans. Of course, this always got him in trouble with the elders of his race, who would send him back for more training, and force him into menial jobs as punishment. He didn't really care so much, but eventually he'd be sent back to Earth to try again, and fail again, and the cycle continued.

Demons are often sent in groups to Earth to help each other out, especially when young. Lukas made friends with the people he was often sent with – Augustus, a Gremlin demon; Matilda and Esteban, a pair of Succubus/Incubus demon twins; and Mordecai, a Nightmare demon. He got along with most of them, especially Augustus with whom he became close friends. Mordecai, however, couldn't stand Lukas, and picked on him to the point of torture. Nightmares are true to their name, terrifying and merciless, and the bullying escalated until Mordecai attacked Lukas viciously, almost killing him. It left Lukas with a broken-off right horn, and horrible scarring on his face. Mordecai ripped a large gash in the left corner of Lukas's mouth, which is now held together with a few staples. Demonic magic could only heal it so far. To this day, Lukas is terrified of Mordecai and all Nightmare demons, and avoids them at all costs.


Strengths/Weaknesses:
Abilities: Desire demons collect souls in exchange for the deepest, darkest desires of those they contract with. Being cut away from contact with the Underworld, Lukas won't be able to grant these wishes, but he can still read people’s desires. Blackmail is always handy. All he has to do to this is touch the person – it's a lot like reading their minds, but it's the only thing he can read. Whether it be something superficial (“I'd really like a sandwich right now”) or something hidden and secret (“I wish that guy would jump off a cliff!”), Lukas can find it.

Usually demons have an ability to pass themselves off as humans too, but since Lukas keeps getting demoted, he's currently without it.

As for mundane skills, Lukas is well-traveled and has picked up a lot of little skills along the way. He's handy with a lot of little things, from cooking to sewing to mechanics. He likes learning new skills too, and is always interested in picking up new ones
